Reliable match-day printing for Burnley Football Club

Client overview

Burnley Football Club run their own in-house IT team, but like many organisations of that size, day-to-day IT is only handled by one or two people.

Strategic decisions – what systems to put in place, what needs fixing – sit with a third-line IT support partner. It was that partner who introduced us as the club’s preferred print supplier.

The challenge

Handling reliability

The club had issues with reliability and consumable stock, but the real problem was on match day. Team sheets must be printed in a strict 15-minute window before kick-off & the existing system was falling over under the pressure and simply wasn’t fit for purpose.

The solution

Providing a managed solution

We recognised the issue as soon as we went in.

The fix was new, reliable hardware, deployed to match how and where the club actually needed to print.

Firmware and software were brought fully up to date, print release was set up so the right people could release the right jobs, and the day-to-day faults – paper jams among them – that had been undermining reliability were dealt with.

Critically, it became a managed solution, rather than being left to the club to handle, which is how it had been run before. We also supplied spare units so the club had backup equipment should they need it, maximising uptime on match day itself.

Results

Our Ongoing Relationship

The club now has full uptime on match day and the backup equipment to manage the pressure point themselves, in the moment, which is what they wanted.

Ahead of this season, the whole fleet had a complete overhaul and update in the close-season window, so it was ready before pre-season began.

The relationship continues to develop with further machines being rolled out, including the club’s charity-side machines, as part of an ongoing roadmap.
